Emergency Preparedness

All communities are vulnerable to a variety of hazards, including weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters or public health threats. The Mid-America Regional Council helps state and local jurisdictions across the Kansas City region work together to maximize their ability to anticipate and manage catastrophic events.

Residents across the region must take personal responsibility for emergency preparedness and know the risks of potential disasters in their community. Whether it’s an act of terrorism, severe weather, public health or chemical threat, PrepareMetroKC offers information about how to create an emergency supply kit, develop a family emergency plan and stay informed. Created by the MEMC, the site provides detailed resources on how to prepare for and respond to a variety of disasters.
