Economic development  

The Mid-America Regional Council works with partners to enhance the performance of the regional economy with an emphasis on inclusive prosperity. The work focuses on strengthening the region’s workforce development system and helping adults achieve postsecondary educational attainment.

The region’s economic development goals include:

  • Increased capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship. 
  • Growing traded sectors, attracting new businesses and helping existing businesses.
  • Creating an effective workforce.
  • Investing in infrastructure.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Plan

MARC is the designated Economic Development District for the region’s nine counties and maintains a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Plan for the Kansas City metro. The plan is the result of a continuing economic development planning process developed with broad public and private sector participation.
