Local World Cup event coordination

A soccer ball flies into a net.

The World Cup will be the biggest sporting event in history. Kansas City, Missouri, holds an important leadership role as a host city, and the magnitude of this event will touch every community in our region and beyond.

KC2026 is a nonprofit organization comprised of public and private leaders in Kansas and Missouri tasked with planning and implementing World Cup matches and events in Kansas City.

MARC and other civic organizations are working with KC2026 to deliver a world-class experience. MARC will provide support for key elements of the host duties, including bringing local elected officials, staff and others to coordinate around these areas:

  • Emergency preparedness and homeland security
  • Housing
  • Public information and communication
  • Sustainability and human rights
  • Transportation

Local event coordination

KC2026 will support FIFA-sanctioned events including six matches and the official FIFA Fan Festivalâ„¢. In addition, there will be unofficial public and private events and promotions to capitalize on the tourism opportunities associated with the World Cup. These unofficial events are independently managed and not affiliated with KC2026 or MARC.

Cities, counties and other civic organizations involved in local planning for unofficial World Cup activities are invited to join the conversation and share ideas in the MARC Member Center.

This tool facilitates information sharing across jurisdictional boundaries to better manage the impact of events on shared resources such as the transportation network and health care system. Digital features include a calendar, a threaded discussion forum and a resource page.
