Household Travel Survey

Understanding how residents move around today to help improve tomorrow

Occasionally, MARC conducts a survey to collect data and feedback from residents about how and where they travel in the region to help improve the future of transportation.

Randomly selected addresses in the Kansas City region receive a letter inviting households to participate in the study. Households are asked to provide demographic information and report where they travel on an assigned travel day. The survey collects information on household travel for 24 hours. The information is converted to statistical data and used only for study purposes. All personal information remains confidential.

The data helps transportation agencies better understand how roads, public transportation, bike lanes and sidewalks are used today, and how they can be improved to make travel better in the future.
