Help determine the future of transportation in the Kansas City region

The plan guides how we will spend federal and state transportation funds. It covers major street and highway, public transportation, bicycle and pedestrian, and freight transportation needs and projects. A long-range plan is required of all metro areas and must be fully updated every 10 years.

During the past 18 months, we’ve worked with the Connected KC 2050 steering work group, various MARC policy and programming committees, the public and other stakeholders to define a vision for the Kansas City region. We tested different possible growth patterns and defined strategies that will help us accomplish our goals and reach our vision. And we issued a call for projects to be included in Connected KC 2050.

While this plan doesn’t give money to projects, projects must be included in the plan to qualify for funding in the future. We asked local cities, counties and other organizations to submit project applications; we received 419. Now we are faced with prioritizing those project applications.

• Tuesday, Nov. 12 — Olathe City Hall from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, Nov. 19 — MARC from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
