Nearly 150 attendees turned out for MARC's year-end recognition of exemplary climate resilience work in the region. Climate resilience expands on the idea of sustainability and includes efforts to prepare for, adapt to and recover from the impacts of climate change.

This year's honorees were:

  • KC Can Compost
  • Johnson County Community College
  • Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium
  • Empower the Northeast (working with Jerusalem Farms)

The event featured a new segment — the Resilient Ideas pitch competition. Seven pitch applicants presented in front of a panel of judges for recognition and a cash award.

Thank you to all of the pitch participants:

  • Ophelia’s Blue Vine Farm
  • Growing Outside the Box (from Operation Breakthrough’s Ignition Lab)
  • My Region Wins!
  • Gary Kannenberg of The Tellus Group
  • ReNew Missouri
  • KC Farm School at Gibbs Road
  • Kanbe’s Markets (with special thanks to Compost Man Stan for his performance and presentation on the Food Too Good to Waste Project)
