Over the past six months, the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) has engaged with hundreds of local residents, experts and local government officials to identify measures, programs and projects to achieve climate resilience in the region. This work has culminated in the draft regional Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP).

The draft PCAP outlines priority measures aligned with the original Kansas City Regional Climate Action Plan adopted in 2021. For the draft PCAP, MARC received nearly 100 project submissions that demonstrate abundant opportunity to implement climate action measures in the next five years. The measures are grouped into five areas: energy efficiency, transportation alternatives, food and agriculture, urban greening, and cross-sector measures.

Share your thoughts

We invite members of the public to review the draft plan and share comments. Comments submitted by Feb. 27 will inform the final development of the plan's measures that are submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency as part of the region's Climate Pollution Reduction Grant application. Using the PCAP as a guide, this federal grant opportunity could provide significant funding to create transformative regional impact.

Thank you to all who have participated in this planning process.
