MARC's goal is to have significant and ongoing public involvement in the transportation planning process. Citizens are encouraged to voice their ideas and opinions regarding specific actions or transportation issues in general to MARC staff at any time.

A period for public comment is provided for the updates and major amendments to all of the primary transportation planning projects for which MARC is responsible (UPWP, LRTP and TIP). Published items are available at the MARC offices and on the Web site. Individuals without Internet access are encouraged to use a public computer at any local public library.

All written comments received at MARC are documented and reviewed by staff, and responses are drafted for consideration by the appropriate committee.

Proposed Amendment to Transportation Improvement Program

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) serves as the metropolitan planning organization for the eight-county Kansas City region. Because many of its programs are funded with your tax dollars, MARC would like your input on third quarter changes that have been proposed to the 2008–2012 Transportation Improvement Program. The proposed amendment to the Transportation Improvement Program includes 20 new and 32 modified projects around the region.

New projects include:

  • Installing highway lighting on U.S. 69 in Overland Park
  • Program of Projects for human services transportation and public transit to be funded through Job Access and Reverse Commute and New Freedom programs for FFY 2008 and 2009
