MARC seeks public feedback on PRO Housing grant application

Public comments accepted until Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, MARC held a public hearing to solicit comments on its HUD PRO Housing grant application linked below. The total application is requesting $4,686,996.53 in federal funds to go to four major regional housing initiatives. The meeting was held in the Board Room at the MARC office, 600 Broadway Blvd., Suite 200, Kansas City, MO, 64105.

Application and Feedback

MARC prepared the application to submit to HUD’s PRO Housing grant program. The funding requested is spread across six years with a total federal request of $4,686,996.53. The four projects focus on initiatives that can help communities in the region overcome barriers to affordable housing.

The projects include:

  • Project around programs and activities to assist communities in reviewing and updating land use, zoning and development processes
  • Project to assist communities in reviewing and updating building codes
  • Project to develop a regional CLT Consortium as recommended in the Regional Business Plan for a CLT or similar model
  • Project to further develop and fund a Regional Housing Trust Fund

As required by HUD, MARC is soliciting comments on the application for 15 days. Comments will close on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023.
