The Dementia Training Room offers free education to caregivers

The Dementia Training Room will offer a free, come-when-you-can educational event for caregivers of people with dementia.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Good Shepherd Church, 9555 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri.

The sessions will repeat every 15 minutes through the day and caregivers can attend as many sessions as they like. Topics will include:

  • Communication strategies.
  • Impact of anxiety and depression.
  • Bathing and incontinence.
  • Delusions and hallucinations.
  • When dementia isn’t Alzheimer’s.
  • How Alzheimer’s moves in the brain.
  • Reducing wandering.
  • Improving sleep.
  • Late-stage care.
  • And others.

This event is offered through the KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center in partnership with MARC.
