Clean Energy

Energy efficiency:
helping the environment AND the economy.

Four local governments recognized as Solar Ready

Four local governments have been named Solar Ready Communities.

The Solar Ready Community Recognition Program honors area jurisdictions that have implemented best management practices to increase the use of solar energy and taken other actions to promote and facilitate solar power installation. Independence earned the bronze award, Kearney earned silver, and North Kansas City and Johnson County both achieved the gold level.
In 2015, MARC recognized eight jurisdictions — Belton, Clay County, Gladstone, Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, Liberty and Raymore, Missouri, and Shawnee, Kansas — as Solar Ready Communities.

Promoting alternative vehicles

MARC is one of five regions participating in the Fleets for the Future (F4F) project. F4F is a national partnership of regional councils, Clean Cities coalitions, and industry experts working together with five regional and one national procurement initiatives to promote the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles to private-sector fleets and individual consumers through outreach and education efforts.
