Cargill Foundation grant will help region increase preparedness for vulnerable populations
The Mid-America Regional Council, working on behalf of the Regional Homeland Security Coordinating Committee, was recently awarded a two-year, $300,000 grant from the Margaret A. Cargill foundation to strengthen community preparedness and disaster recovery capabilities for vulnerable populations.
With this grant, RHSCC members and partners will work to identify the systems and networks that currently exist in the region among organizations that routinely serve vulnerable populations; identify gaps in current organizational preparedness levels; identify opportunities for increased collaboration between service providers and the emergency management community; and develop tools to help address identified gaps and opportunities.
