The MARC Department of Aging Services encourages volunteer involvement throughout the aging network. There are endless opportunities for community involvement with the area’s older adults. A few of these include:
Activity Aide at a senior center. The MARC-sponsored senior centers encourage individuals to share their talents with the participants at each center. You might teach a Spanish class, host a book club, demonstrate knitting or give some dance lessons! If you have something to offer, please share it by contacting your local senior center!
Home-delivered meals volunteer. If you are regularly available and have transportation, you might consider delivering home-delivered meals. Volunteer delivery drivers must have adequate insurance, be reliable and pass a criminal background screening. Another option is to help package the meals for delivery.
Information and Assistance. Help the MARC staff identify programs and services outside the area agency on aging that benefit older adults. Responsibilities could include answering calls from the public or inputting data into our database.
Committee Involvement. The MARC Commission on Aging has committees which meet to discuss policy issues. Involvement usually includes quarterly meetings and other reading and writing.
