The study recommends development of a fixed guideway system from I-29 and North Oak Trafficway in Clay County to approximately 85th Street and U.S. 71/Bruce R. Watkins Parkway in Jackson County. I-29/I-35 EIS and Location Study – This EIS is developing a proposed project to reconstruct the section of I-29/I-35 between MO-210 and the Central Business District. It includes the Paseo Bridge. The Federal Highway Administration has issued its Record of Decision on the I-29/I-35 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). I-35 Fixed Guideway Corridor Study – The I-35 Fixed Guideway Corridor Study has been completed, presented and adopted by MARC. Recommendations include additional auxiliary lanes and interchange improvements, as well as the development of commuter rail along I-35 from Olathe to Union Station, and are included as part of Kansas Comprehensive Transportation Program (CTP). I-70 Corridor Alternatives Analysis – Intended to help identify ways to improve mobility for residents, workers, and the transit dependent along the eastern I-70 corridor The Final Report was released in July 2007. Intermodal Freight Strategies Study – MARC, along with local, regional and state governments and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce completed a major study of the area's freight shipment resources in 1995. K-7 – The corridor study extends from Leavenworth to Spring Hill. The Technical Report was published in 2002. The K-7 Corridor Management Plan was completed in May 2006. K-10 Commuter Project –This project was developed to provide a transit connection from KU in Lawrence to the KU-Edwards campus and Johnson County Community College located in Overland Park. The project steering committee met on multiple occasions in an effort to outline the service make-up of the demonstration project. Transit Service began January 17, 2007. K-10 Study (Completed 2005) – The purpose of this study was to identify needed future improvements for the K-10 highway corridor between the City of Lawrence and the Kansas City metropolitan area. Kearney Interchange Study – This study assessed the need for a new interchange at I-35 and M-92 in Kearney, where there are concerns about congestion. Additional interchanges were considered to relieve congestion. Study funded by the City of Kearney. Lee's Summit Road Improvement Study – (Completed Aug. 2007) - This study looked at current and projected conditions, the study team prepared a Corridor Concept Report for the roadway encompassing several time periods, from short-term safety upgrades to long-term capacity improvements. Liberty Interchange Study – This study focused on improving mobility along existing interchanges of Interstate 35 in Liberty. Suggested improvements should be incorporated in a future MIS of I-35 from I-29 to the MPO boundary (M-92). Line Creek Development Plan – The study area was a sub-portion of the total Line Creek Valley watershed. The project boundaries were generally defined as: NW 68th Street on the south, North Platte Purchase Road on the east, M-152 on the north, and Waukomis Drive/Green Hills Drive on the west. An extension of the boundaries went west, approximately to Overland north and south of NW 72nd Street. Included in this plan was the proposed addition of Line Creek Parkway. Missouri River Corridor (Lewis and Clark Expressway) – The Missouri River Corridor is a proposed 40-kilometer (24.8 mile) roadway to be located in the cities of Kansas City, Sugar Creek and Independence, and parts of unincorporated Jackson County, Missouri. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been approved. The environmental studies for the I-435 to Sterling Avenue and Little Blue Expressway have been completed so far. The FHWA approved the environmental assessments and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact in September 2005. The consultant's website provides a project overview, a link to the DEIS, and FAQs regarding the project. M-7 –In Blue Springs, this study assessed M-7 from Pink Hill to Colbern Road. It examined safety and traffic issues, such as overhead utilities, curb and gutter installation, and construction of a raised median. Within the downtown, the study looked at better integrating the roadway with adjacent businesses by using “context sensitive design.” M-350 (Blue Parkway) – (Completed January 2007) - The M-350/Blue Parkway Corridor Redevelopment Plan is a Land Use, Transportation, Aesthetic and Implementation strategy for the Redevelopment of the Corridor. The study area includes parts of Kansas City, Raytown, and Lee's Summit, MO. M-45 –This study addressed problems with safety and congestion in a growing area (I-435 east to I-29). The study examined alternative alignments for a new four-lane facility or two additional lanes on new alignment to supplement the existing facility. M-92 / M-10 –For this corridor, the study area spanned a 60-mile length from the river crossing at Leavenworth to Richmond. Based on analysis and public input, a four-lane facility is not needed for most of the corridor. Recommendations include improving the existing route with possible four-lane improvements in specific locations. M-150 –The M-150 MIS study area is from U.S. 71 east to M-291. This anticipated high growth area is experiencing increased congestion. Recommendations are to widen Route 150 to a four-lane facility with bike lanes and sidewalks. Northland / Downtown –This MIS reviewed north-south mobility, specifically at the three downtown river crossings on U.S. 169 (Broadway), M-9 (Heart of America Bridge), and I-29/I-35 (Paseo Bridge). The study recommended widening I-29 from the I-70 loop to the I-35/I-29 split, expanding bus service, and the creation of a light rail system. North Oak Corridor – The focus of the study concentrated on North Oak Trafficway from the split at M-9/Burlington and/or NE 32nd Street to NE Englewood Road. The Land Use & Development Plan is now available. Route D (Holmes Rd) –This study covers Rte. D between M-150 and M-58, which is a high growth area experiencing increased congestion. The corridor is close to the new Richards-Gebaur Intermodal Facility. The study recommends widening to four lanes. U.S. 50 –The U.S. 50 corridor focused on a high growth area in and near the city of Lee’s Summit along U.S. 50 from Colbern Road to Route 7. The study recommended several actions, including road widening, new park and ride lots and transit centers. The preferred strategy was approved by TTPC for inclusion in the 2030 LRTP, Transportation Outlook 2030, at their April 2002 meeting. Vivion Road Enhancement –This study recommended plans to convert Vivion Road into more of a parkway, blending in with the residential development and connecting nearby parks. Includes bicycle and pedestrian paths, pavers, shrubs, and new wide medians. Focused on improvements along U.S. 69 (Vivion Road) from Riverside to Claycomo.
