MARC is one of five regions participating with the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) in the Fleets for the Future (F4F) project. F4F is a national partnership of regional councils, Clean Cities coalitions, and industry experts tasked with coordinating five regional and one national procurement initiatives designed to consolidate bulk orders of alternative fuel vehicles and infrastructure. The initiative will reduce costs through bulk purchasing and help spread best practices for alternative vehicle purchasing and use.
Through its cooperative purchasing program, Kansas City Regional Purchasing Cooperative (KCRPC) in a partnership with the Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing (MACPP) and local governments, MARC helps public organizations increase their purchasing power and decrease administrative costs. For the F4F project, the partnership has inserted alternative fuel vehicle specifications in the 2017 model year vehicle bid.
MARC is working with the region’s local government fleet managers to promote and increase the usage of alternative fuel vehicles and with the Metropolitan Energy Center’s Clean Cities program to promote the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles to private-sector fleets and individual consumers through outreach and education efforts.
A guide to alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) was created to assist agencies with selection of available vehicles and options.
